KR255 2020

  • Beattyville, Kentucky (map)

EVENT OVERVIEW

Since 2016 the KR255 has earned the reputation of being one of the most grueling paddlesports races in the USA, This wondrous adventure starts in Beattyville, KY where the main stem of the Kentucky River begins, then winds across the state from eastern Kentucky, through the magnificent Kentucky River Palisades, across several counties, ultimately ending 255 miles later in Carrollton, KY where the river confluences with the mighty Ohio River. The
the race is separated into stages much like the Tour de France. Paddlers endure over 14 portages, dealing with the elements, while also experiencing goodwill from communities along the river, and an amazing #ExploreKentucky experience! Since its inception, the event has attracted seasoned paddlers from as far away as South America. New for 2020 is the addition of the 4.3 Mile Carrollton Crush Float Trip + Race.
